Vaginoplasty or Vaginal Rejuvenation is the tightening and narrowing procedure of the vagina which gets loose and loses its flexibility due to several reasons. Labia are also operated to correct the scars of delivery (vaginal tear or the scars of “episiotomy”, which is a procedure performed to facilitate the child birth) with the goal to achieve a better aesthetic appearance. The reasons for these problems may be ageing, delivery, frequent sexual intercourse and gynaecological operations. The surgeries of the vagina, labia major, labia minora and clitoris are also called as genital surgery, vaginal rejuvenation and vulvo-vaginal aesthetics. *These types of cosmetic surgeries can be performed on anyone over the age of 18. There is no upper age limit.

HOW IS IT PERFORMED?

• Vaginoplasty: Narrowing of the vagina (vaginal opening and vaginal canal).
• Labia minora surgery: It is the reduction and shortening of the labia minora. Labiaplasty and vaginoplasty can be performed in combination. Normally, labia minora are covered by labia majora when the legs are closed, and they are not visible. However; if the labia minora are larger than the standard, they bulge from the labia majora, causing an ugly aesthetic appearance. Labiaplasty can also be performed on virgin females. The labia minora and majora are positioned in the external genital region and the hymen is 1 to 2 cm deep in the vaginal opening. Therefore; the hymen is not damaged during labiaplasty.
• Labia majora surgery: The labia majora can get plump with fat injection.
• Clitoroplasty: The excess skin on the clitoris is corrected.
• Hymenoplasty: Hymen rupture can be stitched either permanently or temporarily (3 to 7 days before marriage).

VAGINOPLASTY RECOVERY

• The patient can have a shower 3 days after the operation.
• The patient can return to work 3 days after the operation.
• Sexual abstinence is recommended for a certain time period based on the condition of the patient, which will be at least 1 month.
• Delivery can be performed after the operation. On the other hand, the vagina will get enlarged again after delivery.
