WHAT IS IT?
Eyebrow Transplant is an operation performed to transplant new hair grafts to the eyebrows and eyelashes. As the operation area is narrow in eyebrow transplantation, channels are opened first to determine the number of hair grafts needed to be extracted. At this point, the direction and density of the channels are very important to attain a natural look. In eyelash transplant, hair grafts need to look upwards. Once the number of grafts needed is determined, the best location for transplant is identified so that they best fit the eyebrows. These grafts are carefully extracted using a micro motor. Eyebrow, eyelash and hair transplantation procedures are similar.
WHO NEEDS IT?
- Patients with eyebrow and eyelash fall
- Patients with sparse eyebrows
- Patients with eyebrow deformity
- Patients with eyebrow or eyelash deformity due to environmental factors such as an accident, trauma or burn
- Those who want to have thicker eyebrows
ANESTHESIA METHOD
HOW IS IT PERFORMED?
- FUE technique (by Micro-Motor): Hair grafts from different regions can be extracted for eyebrow transplant. Back of the neck is the most preferred region both for the eyebrow and eyelash. In order to ensure a natural appearance, thinner hair grafts are transplanted on the edges whereas the thicker ones are transplanted at the centre to achieve a better result. Thinner hair grafts of the donor region are more suitable for eyelash transplant.
EYEBROW TRANSPLANT RECOVERY
- The recovery period in eyebrow and eyelash transplant is the same as the recovery period in hair transplant. Eyebrows and eyelashes are washed one day after the transplantation.
- The patient is called for the cleaning of the scrubs on the 10th day.
- Eyebrows and eyelashes start to fall after 1.5-2 weeks and the new hairs start to grow as of the 2nd or 3rd month.
- The patient needs 6 to 8 months to see the best visual result and for 1 year for complete recovery.
- Transplanted eyebrows and eyelashes grow faster that their originals owing to the features of the donor region.
